Dr. George Shields and his staff are a close-working team dedicated to meeting the vision care needs of the people of Oklahoma.
George shields grew up in a small town in Wyoming, where the local optometrist, Dr. Halsey, was a mentor and role model. Not only did Dr. Halsey care about George’s eye health, but he also cared about his life, school, and sports.
George knew at a young age that he wanted to be an optometrist and build a practice like Dr. Halsey’s, taking care of his patients’ vision and fostering friendships with them. Even in a large community like Oklahoma City, this personal, small-town approach to healthcare is the foundation for Shields Family Eyecare.
George graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1993. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Northeastern State University in 2001, then completed a residency in ocular disease and laser refractive surgery at BVA Advanced Eye Care and TLC Laser Eye Center in Oklahoma City in 2002.
Dr. Shields has lectured professionally on a variety of topics and is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Shields and his wife Keri live in Edmond and have two children, Grant and Susan. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and looks forward to football and basketball seasons and cheering on the OSU Cowboys. Dr. Shields and his family are active members of Crossings Community Church.
